"But there is an added technique for weakening a nation at its very roots ... The method is simple. It is first, a dissemination of discord. A group - not too large - a group that may be sectional or racial or political - is encouraged to exploit its prejudices through false slogans and emotional appeals. The aim of those who deliberately egg on these groups is to create confusion of counsel, public indecision, political paralysis and, eventually, a state of panic. Sound national policies come to be viewed with a new and unreasoning skepticism ... As a result of these techniques, armament programs may be dangerously delayed. Singleness of national purpose may be undermined. . . . The unity of the state can be so sapped that its strength is destroyed. All this is no idle dream. It has happened time after time, in nation after nation, during the last two years." - FDR - 1940

Can terrorists defeat America?  That is up to Americans.  We can fight and defeat them but it will take resolve and a firm conviction of the rightfulness of our cause, the knowledge that our values are universal values that apply to all men, that we are not a nation of conquerors and enslavers (as opposed to the terrorists) but a nation of liberators and fighters for principle.  It takes a firm knowledge of what civilization is and how much it took to create our civilization.  It takes a knowledge of how tenuous and rare civilization is and why it represents the only hope for man on this earth.

How tenuous is civilization? What holds it together? And what can cause it to shatter?

An advanced civilization is advanced only to the extent of the knowledge that it integrates into its institutions. For centuries, man's societies were based upon plunder and domination because the rights of man, principles such as freedom of speech and the pursuit of happiness, were unknown or unacknowledged. With their rediscovery and recognition in the United States of America, a truly great civilization became possible. But it took a great deal of conceptual thinking and philosophical discussion, even an American Revolution and a Constitutional Convention before such knowledge became part of our civilization.  Consider that (Frenchmen and intellectuals) when you say that the U.S. is an aggressor nation.

America was not created by university professors sitting in ivory towers.  It was created by intellectuals (The Founding Fathers) who understood the rights of man, understood how rare would be a nation that defended those rights and knew that in order to have such a nation, they, the intellectuals, would have to wage the fight with their own boots on the battlefield.  That George Washington as our first general and our first President was not accidental.  He laid it on the line for freedom.  He knew that our nation, in order that it become a beacon of hope for man, must be created by the blood and sweat of the very men that would live under the freedom that the new civilization would provide.  That is how tenuous civilization is.  Without that effort by that man, and men like him, we would not be free today.  Consider that (liberals and far left radicals) the next time you argue that we need to understand the terrorists.

How tenuous is civilization?  The transition of a social group from barbarism to civilization is made possible by the level of the group's knowledge.  Advanced knowledge must be passed from individual to individual. Its benefits are so important and its nature too complex for it to be left to random forces. Knowledge must be passed from generation to generation so that the benefits of civilization can be perpetuated. Therefore, the need for philosophers and concrete stores of knowledge. Concepts, words, books, works of art, computers, even the Internet are the means through which society concretizes its most important values and discoveries and passes them to future generations.

Barbarism, and its method terrorism, is based upon a negative--on an absence of knowledge and institutional control. Its worst representatives have characterized their reigns by plunder, murder and rape. They leave only destruction in their passing.  But they know one thing: to destroy civilization, you must destroy individuals. Individuals are the key to the future of civilization.  Kill a George Washington before he has a chance to learn about the value of freedom and you have killed a civilization.  Kill a free country like America before you establish your caliphate and you will have no opposition.

How tenuous is civilization?  Can the terrorists win?  They can win if we do not know that civilization must be defended and that the only way to defend it is to fight against those that would destroy it, against those that kill individuals, against those that want to destroy (through propaganda and murder) the knowledge that civilization means hope for man, hope for individuals and hope for the future.  We would not be free today if George Washington believed that we needed to “understand” the enemy, the British tyranny of his day.  We would not be free today if the greatest generation did not know that in order to exist as free men they could not coexist with the likes of Hitler and his murderers.  We would not be free today if we did not have a President who understood that the Soviet Union was an evil empire.  We would not be free today, and we will not be free tomorrow unless we keep the knowledge, and that means all of us, that 911 happened because we have the ability to be think freely - and we have the ability to judge the despicably low level of intellect that it takes to enslave both men and women and treat them like cattle - we are, for the first time in the history of the world, a true civilization based upon an advanced level of knowledge.  For the terrorists, we must be destroyed in order that they can establish their hatred as normal.

How tenuous is civilization?  Extremely tenuous when you realize that it takes less to destroy, kill and eliminate than it does to create one single individual with the knowledge of how important and tenuous is a civilization.  The terrorists don’t have to build a civilization, they don't need to study and learn, organize and plan for the future.  They only need to take advantage of such mindless methods as ambush, suicide bombings, airplane hijackings and assassination in order to create a world where no one stops their plundering and murdering.  It takes no knowledge to destroy.  It takes a complex knowledge of the rights of man, a free market, laws and political institutions that work in order to build and defend a civilization.  The terrorists have the advantage over us only as long as it takes for us to know that it is we who should be doing the ambushing, the bombing and the assassination of them.  Have we developed that knowledge?  How tenuous is civilization?  Ours hangs in the balance.

One thing is sure, there is a chorus of voices in our society intent on destroying our needed resolve to fight the war on terror.  There is a chorus of voices that don’t understand that their words of hatred toward America diminish our resolve and give solace to the enemies of civilization.  These people stand on the shoulders of George Washington but do not possess the knowledge that he possessed; the knowledge that asserts that in order to defeat the enemies of freedom, we must stand together as people who know that our freedom is under attack, that our very survival is at stake and that we will give no quarter to the haters and destroyers of civilization.  George Washington would tell us that a cry of “dissent” against a war of this magnitude and importance is a cry of solidarity with those that would destroy us.  He would tell us that before he goes into battle to fight for our right to dissent as free people.

The way to fight and defeat terrorism is to identify the criminals and get them.  You cannot fight terrorists by waiting for them to commit mass murder...but by finding those that have expressed terrorist sentiments and charging them with the crimes they have already committed.  Life must be made difficult for terrorists so it can be made easier for productive and law-abiding citizens

Each terrorist needs a haven.  And that means a nation that knows his intention is to kill innocent civilians in other countries.  Iraq and Afghanistan were such havens.  In order to be able to operate, the terrorist group must go to a government or it must take over a weak government and impose its will.  Bin Ladin sought out Saddam for that purpose and they both had the U.S. as their enemy.  Saddam allowed them safe haven.  The Bush policy is that if your government provides safe haven to terrorists and agrees to assist or look the other way, then your government will be treated as an enemy of the U.S.  As a matter of protecting our citizens, we will do whatever we can to ensure that the terrorists cannot use your country as a launching point for killing Americans.  The war in Afghanistan pursued that policy and so did the war in Iraq.  There are other nations, particularly Iran, that are in the cross hairs.

You must understand that no freedom loving nation will knowingly allow people that want to kill civilians into its territory and just let them live there, particularly if they have come into the country on that pretext.  The Bush plan states, that we will not allow that to happen as a matter of our national security.  That it is a matter of our national security should be evident by the fact that 911 happened.  Also, any terrorist criminal, in order to be able to work as a terrorist must commit other crimes in order to operate.  He must find a way to get money, communicate, etc. and often times do other crimes like robbery, sell drugs, murder and even rape.  These are not nice people and they are terrorists primarily because they are criminals first.  It seems strange to have to tell this to liberals, but criminals have no problem with committing crimes.  They are not desirable elements and if we can identify them and catch them while they commit their other crimes this is good.  That is why we enlist the aid of other nations that do not want these elements living among them.

What I don't understand is how some Americans can take a strategy like that, that developed out of the lessons of 911, and start calling our government the aggressor.  It is as if 911 did not happen.  I am almost certain that if Kerry gets elected, and he probably will (because the liberals' distortions are creating doubt), he will be forced as a matter of American self-interest to establish and pursue the same policy.  There is no other policy that will work but the Bush policy.  For the liberals to take everything that Bush is doing and pull it out of context, call him a Nazi and war criminal and a liar is beyond me.  They are only distorting and propagandizing - so much of what they say does not hold up to scrutiny - you can't be blind to the fact that they are doing it for the sake of the election and they are willing to distort anything they can to discredit Bush - you can't be that gullible, Mr./Mrs., Average American, not to know that the liberals will put our lives in jeopardy so they can get power.  It is unprecedented in the history of our nation for a mainstream group to do this.  It has to tell you something about this gang of liberals and their view of power and their view of the importance of your freedom.  Joe Lieberman is the only one of them that gets it.

Bush is responsible for conducting the war on terror.  We made it clear to him after 911 that we must be secure in our own borders.  You had better believe that if we have another terror incident in our country, it will be the liberals who will claim that he is not doing enough and that he made us vulnerable, when in fact it is they, in their constant and unfair criticisms that will be culpable in making us vulnerable.  Instead of fighting the war, he is forced to fight the liberals too and that is unprecedented in time of war...and we are in a war...the terrorists have declared war on us.

The fact is Saddam was an enemy of America.  He had helped and harbored terrorists.  That is all we need to know.  For liberals like Al Gore to say, there is no proof of a connection, he did not help Al Queda on 911, is all semantics and evades the true point...he was actively working against American interests and actively working to help terrorists.  Those are facts.  All this mumbo jumbo about "no connection" and "not a threat" is BS designed to create doubt.  I have had enough of liberal doubt creating...that is how we lost Vietnam and sold a lot of freedom loving people into dictatorship.  As a nation we have got to stop this constant hand wringing and realize we are in a fight for our very survival as a civilization and get on board until the war is won and Al Queda is obliterated totally.

In time of war, we can't be successful by constantly attacking our leadership.  Someone has to lead and someone has to support that leadership.  Otherwise we will lose the war like we did in Vietnam - and in this case we will lose our civilization.  This is not a fight for a small jungle...this is a fight for our survival.  The enemy has brought the fight onto our territory.  We cannot assist our enemies and right now the liberals are doing just that.

For some reason, young people today are listening to the college professors who think that America is the problem in the world and they have lost sight of the fact that this nation is the first nation to stand up for the rights of individuals to live freely and without fear.  They have lost sight of the fact that this nation is affluent because it is first a free nation and that as a nation of freedom loving people we are an example to the entire world.  The world does not invite us to trade with them because we are Nazis and intent on dominating and controlling them.  We are in other parts of the world because our freedom has made commerce worldwide possible and that is precisely what the enemies of freedom do not want in their countries.  They must get us out because we represent the only free opinions in the world.  They hate us because we are free and we will not be blind to their tyrannies.  By getting us out, they only prove that they are willing to throw their countries into poverty and decay so they can take over and live in palaces.

Why do they want us out?  Not because we are tyrants but because they intend to be tyrants when they take over.  And we are known, historically, to be fighters of tyranny.  Do you wonder why they spew hatred and behead our citizens?  That is why.  And here, in America, our own citizens are calling us the aggressors.  European doofs are calling us the aggressors because the liberal media here has made it a popular thing to say...but it is a lie.  America is only an aggressor to the likes of Hitler and Saddam and bin Ladin - none of them are freedom fighters.

The terrorists are Nazis who have no intention of offering people the level of freedom and security that we offer our people?   They are criminals and all they want is control and docile obedient slaves.  That is why they resort to murder of civilians to get their way.  They must terrify those they intend to rule.  For anyone to compare this wonderful American nation and its people, in spite of its problems, with Nazis and terrorists is a travesty.  I can only think that they have never had a life of their own and don't think an independent thought.  How can anyone look around with their own eyes in this country and watch the commerce and the freedom available to everyone and assume that this is all made possible by swastikas and goose stepping?  Where do liberals get off hating this wonderful country and siding with the terrorists?

But the media and the Dems are giving quarter to the terrorists with their deliberate lies and deceptions about the war and our intentions in fighting the war in Iraq.  If the American Media were today saying that the entire American public is outraged at the beheadings of Americans rather than an aberration in a prison, I think you'd see a different picture in the rest of the world.  Instead you hear them slanting the news against America, attacking and criticizing the most civilized nation in history as if it were a dictatorship.  For the sake of winning an election, the media and the liberals are doing so much harm and giving the terrorists so much ammunition that I think it is not a stretch to hold them culpable for those beheadings in Iraq and Saudi Arabia.  There has got to be a limit to how much criticism is fair during war time and that limit should certainly NOT include spreading lies about our President and calling him a liar. To say that the President lied leading up to the war in Iraq is a lie and a liberal invented scandal based on distortion and propaganda.  Shame on the media.

In this battle for the survival of our civilization, there is one fact that the dissenters over the war on terror do not understand: using freedom of speech to support the enemies of freedom will ensure that one will not be free to speak for long.  Though they are free to dissent (and that freedom is a gift from an advanced civilization), they are not free to escape the consequences of their own actions and words.  The American citizen is looking at their advertisers and supporters and making important buying decisions.

Can the terrorists win?  Yes.  Think about that.  Then think about your wives and children and the future.  Think about what you know.
