This album contains the €nest parrot illustrations ever produced, conveying the carriage and expression of each bird with stunning artistry. It was drawn, lithographed, and published on a shoestring by Lear in a tiny edition; soon after, his vision permanently impaired, Lear turned to landscapes and the nonsense verse and images for which he is best known today. Commentary by Robert McCracken Peck.
