Young, Edward
The Complaint, and the Consolation; or, Night Thoughts
London, 1797

The largest project ever undertaken by the visionary artist and
poet William Blake was a series of illustrations for Edward
Young's Night Thoughts. A selection of these phantastical
designs--drawn as framing elements in wide margins surrounding
the text--was engraved and published in 1797. This Octavo
Edition reproduces two hand-colored copies, with an introduction
by Nicolas Barker and searchable text transcription.
