Naval Official Records - Western Waters Subset

******** 6 Volumes - Cd Rom - $ 21.95 *******

Published by H-Bar

These 6 volumes cover the operations of both Union and Confederate Navies on the Tennessee, Ohio, and Mississippi rivers and along the Gulf coast (Volumes 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27).** The Tennessee River includes Fort Henry, Fort Donnelson, and Shiloh ** The Mississippi River includes all activity from the Mississippi head waters, to New Orleans. Operations include Ft Pillow, Memphis, Vicksburg, the Red River Campaign, and New Orleans. ** The Gulf coast operations included both blockade and battles at Mobile, New Orleans, and points west. The full story of the Civil War along the Western Waters is told in two parts: The Official Record for the Armies and the Official Record for the Navies. Vicksburg could not have been taken by land if the Union forces did not control of the river. The union gun boats at Fort Henry, Fort Donelson and Shiloh played a major role in all three battles! "Dam the Torpedoes, Full speed ahead" at the entrance to Mobile Bay. Blockade of all Gulf ports meant the Gulf Confederate states could not obtain the weapons required to equip their troops.
