There's a bad feeling I get about this liberal crowd. They don't exude an air of honesty. It seems like they have all been attending these hyped MLM conferences, you know the kind where everyone gets frenzied and excited about all the money they are going to make, except this time, the prize is the American government, a big pie they can all slice up for themselves. No, its more like a startup organization where the entrepreneur has no money so he trades all his startup needs for future profits. Something like a leveraged investment where the investor puts in time, gratis, and gets first dibs on the profits once the enterprise is successful. The adoring media personalities get front row center in all Presidential news conferences and the opportunity to write heartfelt stories about all the needy that are being destroyed by American companies (a joint activity with trial lawyers). The movie directors that help them get elected will receive lots of free plugs, sleep-overs at the Whitehouse and publicity as "the movie director that changed a nation." Former government officials who write damaging books against the opposition will get government posts for which the previous administration thought they weren't qualified. The trial lawyers get to participate in lots of business shakedowns and have "discussions" with businessmen that "want" to donate to the next election campaign - you know, help the cause - in return for being allowed to stay in business - that kind of social contribution. The philanthropists that give their huge amounts of money and set up shadow political organizations get entire government programs as their personal playthings to help make them even more wealthy. You have to spend money to make money.
It just doesn't seem like a crowd that we can trust to look out after our interests but will instead look out after its own - kind of like they did during the Clinton administration, you know, ignore the job and concentrate on the shakedown and campaign fund raising efforts. How will they address important issues? Property rights? No such thing. Terrorism? Well that was a made up problem created by lies and criminality. We'll indict Bush for causing American lives in a wasted personal war and make sure that he and Saddam share the same cell - on second thought, we may free Saddam. Then we'll negotiate with the terrorists and pull out of Saudi Arabia. That doesn't seem like too much to ask. After all, we've been imposing ourselves over there for too long. We've always said that. Individual rights? Well, they are subordinated to social goals (you get rights if you pay). Free enterprise? Free for us, not for them. Health care? Don't worry, we'll take care of your health....right. Opposition? Don't worry, we've learned the skill of scandal mongering. There won't be any opposition after we get in charge. Government regulation? Let's see where can we get the campaign contribution? Economic policy? Don't worry, Bill Clinton will tell us what to do.
If you think I'm exaggerating and that this crowd will actually do some good in the middle of all this profiteering, I am not exaggerating. This is what they think and that is what they will do...nothing more. The rest will be smoke and mirrors and political spin.
Kind of adds a whole new meaning to the term "entrepreneur." Usually, an entrepreneur becomes wealthy by actually offering value to his potential customers. You know, I think this brand of politics is the legacy of Bill Clinton. Posted 7/7/04
