This story documents the emotions and loss suffered by many in my generation who were thrust into a no-win situation. The tragedy of the Vietnam War was created by political decisions that forced our soldiers into a situation where they could not win. It was exacerbated by an anti-War movement at home, led by the likes of John Kerry, that was clearly working on behalf of our enemy while claiming to be exerting their rights of Free Speech. They set a precedent where no President can conduct a valid war without having to deal with the political exploitation of that war by his opponents. Further, the anti-War movement set into motion a questioning not only of our men at arms but also of our military establishment and the intelligence community. At the behest of anti-War protesters who had become the liberal political establishment, our country embarked on a decades long effort to weaken our military and intelligence capabilities that eventually resulted in the 911 attacks.
The hallmark of the anti-War movement is that it was a pro-Soviet, anti-American, anti-"Imperialist" movement against a country that was not Imperialistic.
You have a decision to make. Either you wake up, and like many of us, realize that the events of the 60s and 70s were the backdrop that created the events of 911 or you stand firm with the war protesters in their anti-Imperialistic views about American power. Soon we will choose whether we continue this nightmare and forever fear a "nuisance" or defeat the enemy. You have the ability to see the truth and to fully realize that the "power" of our country is not in a desire to dominate, as the anti-war protesters would like us to believe, but in our ability to offer freedom and enterprise around the world. Now you choose - do we live or commit suicide?
