Are Liberals Smarter than Non-Liberals?

Regarding 'Professors fund liberal candidates' (Monday, September 13, 2004) http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2004/09/13/news/10683.shtml:
My comment:
I find interesting that university liberals
support liberal politicians because they are smart. I am not a university
person but consider myself educated and aware of issues and don't consider
myself ignorant nor do I feel it in my bones. I consider it ad hominem to
assume that if you are not a liberal you are somehow stupid. That is
not a very smart way for a university person to act. No wonder the
storm troopers in the blogs act they way they do. They merely practice
the ad hominem taught to them by their professors. Is this smart?
I wonder if they, the liberals, consider it stupid to want to get rid of the terrorists "over there" so to speak instead of just making half-hearted efforts like those during the Clinton years. Further do they consider their superior intelligence to be based upon the "liberal" idea that America is responsible for the hatred the world brings upon us? Doesn't seem like a very smart position for a liberal to say that our support of Israel is a cause of the hatred toward us when most of them, I think, are smart enough to support Israel.
Also, isn't the liberal idea that America causes its own hatred a result of a liberal derision of "global capitalism" a view straight out of the minds of university liberal/socialists of the past, even a part of Soviet-style communist propaganda? Is repeating communist slogans about American imperialism an intelligent thing to say? What proof do they have of such a position other than a pure hatred of capitalism and the freedom that makes it possible? Is hatred of free trade an intelligent position?
I submit that the reason that liberal professors support liberal politicians is that these professors taught the liberal politicians everything they know - and through that teaching have created a group of politicians that are blindly repeating worn out slogans that make them irrelevant to the very real issues that the American voters must consider. Unfortunately for them, in this post 9/11 world, what they taught them is now obsolete. The American people are, hopefully, smart enough not to let liberalism stop them from defending themselves in the world, and especially when they take a stand that says America has nothing for which to feel guilty - in other words they are patriots (it is stupid to be a patriot say the liberals).
Also, I don't don't consider it smart to ignore the very notion that it is liberalism's ideological influence that made us vulnerable in the first place, both ideologically and in terms of our military intelligence capabilities. Those liberal politicians taught by liberal professors thought that America was the cause of world wide hatred and strife and voted repeatedly to disarm and weaken our nation, did they not? Don't worry, we'll still let the liberal professors pretend to know better.
