Collectivism

The political system based upon government control of all key cultural and economic institutions.  Under collectivism, the well being of the collective, the group, is considered more important than the individual who must sacrifice his self-interest to that of the group.  Common terms for collectivist systems include communism, fascism and welfare-statism.  A tribe is often considered to be a primitive form of collectivism
