He carries his father’s name with a
different spelling and grew up with his step-brothers Pancho and Dana
Carter, sons of Duane Carter, who married Arza after her divorce from
Johnnie Parsons. Much like the Caruthers family, the Carters raced
quarter-midgets in Indianapolis as kids and then moved into full-sized midget competition.
Parsons, Jr. has enjoyed a long racing career that includes eleven
Indianapolis 500 Mile Races. He won over 30 midget features including the
4-Crown Nationals midget feature twice, the 1979 “Hut Hundred,” and the
“Copper Classic” midget portion in 1986. In 1977 he was 2nd in the National
Midget Championship and has been the runner-up in the Championship Dirt Cars
twice. Johnny has placed 5th at Indianapolis twice, in 1977 and again in 1985. His record includes two Silver Crown
and five Sprint Car features. He was inducted into the National Midget Auto
Racing Hall of fame in 1994. He is listed as #42 in the world as an
all-time open wheel race winner.
Johnny is now retired as a driver and is
available for speaking engagements for schools and corporations. He can
speak on such subjects as safety on the road, motivation and on his
distinguished racing career. He is also a driving instructor for both
racers, street drivers and dealerships. To inquire about a booking contact
