Outlaw 10.5 tire cars. John is a well rounded young man with great
marketability. He is honest, respectful and a diligent worker willing to do
what it takes.
Racing
Education
John
recently attended the Roy Hill Drag Racing School at the Georgia Motorsports
Park. He worked on two Pro Stock Cars and a Pro Modified. He learned how to
change rear end gears, transmissions and clutches along with managing
scheduled maintenance procedures. At the school, John ran 6.83 seconds at
192 mph and made 6 runs that earned him a Pro Stock driver’s license.
Goals
John’s
next goal is to work with a professional racing team so that he can
eventually become a top driver. His immediate plans call for learning all
aspects of motorsports and becoming a great asset to a team. He looks
forward to being at the races, meeting people, learning the sport and being
introduced to the people that make this sport great and inspiring.
Testing
and Race Experience
John
has been racing in the Heads Up 4 tenths Pro Tree class for five years
including one year of
testing. He races in the Outlaw Real Street class of the Southern Street Car
Association (SSCA) in what are called "stock appearing cars." These cars
ride on only a 26/10" tire with 1/8th mile speeds in the area of
5.20's. John is a quick learner. The first time on the drag strip he turned
5 second runs.
The
Real
Street
class races at great facilities like Rockingham Dragway, Mooresville Dragway,
Farmington Dragway, and Jefferson Pageland Dragway. In 2004, John finished
4th in the points out of 38 competitors, with many close races including 3
final rounds. In the 2005 season he kept his reaction times at a low .4
which resulted in 4 finals and a 2nd place in the points. He would have
mathematically been #1 in points but unfortunately missed one race due to
engine problems. |
