Berlin Wall Pieces For Sale "Mr. Gorbachov, Tear Down This Wall." - Ronald Reagan Copyright 2009 Robert Villegas In 1990, I had the opportunity to vacation in Berlin. During the week I was there, the parliament voted to set the date for reunification of the two Germanys. I had some time to visit several sites including the beautiful sculpture of the Egyptian princess Nefertiti. I also visited the Brandenburg Gate and engaged in a new ritual of chipping off pieces of the Berlin Wall. These pieces were chipped from the very spot where Ronald Reagan made his famous, "Mr. Gorbachev, bring down this wall." speech. After careful thought, I took a walk to the other side of the Brandenburg gate and visited my first and only communist country. I noticed a significant difference. While the streets and buildings of West Berlin were well maintained, I saw the eastern side of the city broken down, poorer and tired looking. I wrote about my visit in my essay, Dachau and Berlin in 1990 that I will send to each person who orders pieces of the wall.
